LEEDS – ABC’s American Idol contestant Tristen Gressett will perform at the 27th Annual Creek Bank Festival on Saturday May 14 at Leeds Memorial Park on Hwy 119 from 10am-4pm.
This year’s festival is sure to be a crowd pleaser and bigger than ever. The festival is a free event with free parking.
Gressett landed her spot in the Top 11 Contender that we’ve cheered on every week and come to love throughout her goofy run in American Idol competition. He wowed the judges and millions of viewers every week with his incredible talent and stage presence as well as his quirky style of entertainment.
This will be one of Gressett’s first performances fresh off the American Idol stage this season. This 17-year-old is a local artist and singer-songwriter from Pell City who enjoys rock, soul, blues and everything in between.
Following his incredible rendition of The Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” during Gressett’s final performance, he received a standing ovation. The judges also shared encouraging comments after Gressett’s performance.
“He gave me Mick Jagger on steroids, baby!” said Lionel Richie.
“Look bro, it’s electricity in a bottle and I’m sorry to say, but none of the other contestants made a quarter of it…it was amazing!” said Katy Perry.
“Your whole deal works for who you are, and then you put on a cape and coordinate it,” Luke Bryan said.
Back by popular demand, The WingNuts featuring judge Alan Furr will grace the stage as vintage rock ‘n roll specialists, with a knack for delivering ‘groovy’ music in a highly entertaining and professional manner. Their setlist includes Top 40 rock & roll classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Birmingham-based singer/songwriter, Erica Ryleigh is also back and is best known for her country sound with a hint of “indy” twang. With musical and lyrical influences like Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves, not only does her upbeat attitude and courage make Ryleigh easy to remember, her storytelling throughout her writing is hard to forget.
Singer, songwriter and recording artist, Eric Watters and Roy Mac, the current living legend of Wyatt Earp, are also among the performing artists. Watters is a resident of Leeds and his band, Suburban Love Junkies, have produced a number of albums and have a few new singles. Evan Riley, who quickly rose to fame at the age of 9, will host on the Creek Bank stage. Riley is a dreamer, singer and believer from Birmingham who will also wow you with her performance on stage.
In addition to stellar performers, there are plenty of activities for kids including hula hoop contests sponsored by Height’s Title, our famous balloon artist sponsored by Mills Pharmacies, face painting sponsored by The Outlet Shops of Grand River, and more. Arts, crafts, food trucks and other vendors will abound with over 100 vendors already scheduled with a host of vendors from across the Southeast. The Leeds Chamber of Commerce mascot challenge is sponsored by Chick-Fil-A Leeds is also back this year.
For dog lovers, the Creek Bark Dog Pageant will showcase EnviroSpray-sponsored dogs of all shapes and sizes. Dogs must be up to date with their vaccines to participate and there is no charge to enter the contest.
There are a few vendor spaces available for last minute planners depending on your type of business, but hurry and get your registrations up so your business can be represented. Creek Bank Festival t-shirts will be available for purchase in a variety of sizes.
Additionally, in conjunction with the Creek Bank Festival, the 6th Annual Cruising the Creek Car Show is scheduled from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This charity event is sponsored by C&C Motor Company to raise funds for Leeds Outreach and Backpack Buddies. and is also a crowd pleaser.
