news, latest news,

Russells Creek co-coach Danny Chatfield knows the Heat will be there from the first rebound on Saturday. There will be plenty of local interest in Warrnambool and District’s top-flight clash against Nirranda and the Creekers mentor told The Standard it was an exciting challenge for his squad. “After a loss last week, coming home like we did, we need to build on that momentum this week,” he said. “Again there is no pressure on our group of players and I really pushed that in training (Thursday morning) and again on Tuesday we have no expectations on us really, but just perform. We want to test ourselves and see where we are in the competition.” MORE SPORT: Avoiding a slow start against the powerhouse Blues led by Brayden Harkness on the outside, a side with three key inclusions to bolster their squad will be one of the main challenges for the Chatfield side. The Creekers only made one change themselves with youngster Macauley Clark making his senior debut as a backup to the stable-looking squad. “Dylan (Herbertson) and myself as co-coaches have really emphasized that the start is so important,” he said. “We have to break even in the first quarter or whatever and play consistently through all four quarters, that’s key. If you come out of the blocks slowly, you’ll just be playing catch-up footy all day. We did it last week (against Panmure) and lost a point.” Our reporters work hard to deliver local news, Here’s how you can access our trusted content: Now just one click away with our new application: digital subscribers now have the option of receiving information faster, at their fingertips with The Standard:
