Nambucca Valley community invited to Australia Day rally at Eungai Creek – News Of The Area

The NAMBUCCA Valley Council would like to invite everyone to come to an Australian Day Gathering at Unkya Game Reserve, Eungai Creek Road, Eungai Creek on Wednesday 26th January 2022 from 8.30am to 2.00pm.

The theme for the day is “Reflect. Respect. Celebrate’ and attendees will have time to do all of this.

There will be a smoking ceremony and a space to record your thoughts on our nation.

Try your hand at weaving the Gumbaynggirr way, using plant materials, while Aunt Lauren Jarrett demonstrates traditional methods and techniques.

Local artists from Gumbaynggirr will be featured, and you can learn about the Freedom Ride’s arrival in town, as well as local language and stories.

Additionally, there will be market stalls with locally made produce and handicrafts, food trucks, BBQ, and Unkya’s famous canteen with amazing coffee and homemade produce.

Want even more?

Four bands will play throughout the day – listen to The Shufflemen, The Haig Bros, Full Moon and The Rosie MissChief Band, featuring local performer Rosie Donovan.

And the children?

How about free glitter tattoos, balloons, crafts, cake decorating and games?

Still not enough?

Bring two of your best lamingtons by 10am and enter the lamington contest – will yours be the tastiest lamingtons in the Nambucca Valley?

You can also meet Nambucca Valley Australia Day Ambassador Warwick Nowland, World Superbike Champion.
