Plant a butterfly garden
On Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., visitors can join BCWEC volunteers Cheryl and Eileen at the Wildlife Education Center pavilion and learn how to plant a garden that attracts butterflies and other pollinators. They will also discuss which plants are home to the different stages of these beneficial and beautiful creatures, where to buy plants locally, how to collect seeds and how to plant them. Participants will receive plant and seed samples. This activity is suitable for adults and children over 12 years old. Registration is required by sending contact details to [email protected]
Also on Saturday, May 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., children and adults of all ages can take part in a clever gardening activity by making milkweed mud pies. Join Wildlife Center volunteers Cheryl and Eileen under the Wildlife Education Center pavilion as each participant picks milkweed seeds and other wildflowers and makes a seed ball to take home to plant. Participants can also help us expand the Wildlife Center’s wildflower meadow by adding a few seeds.
Nature Craft – Egg Carton Gardens
