Kick It At The Creek This Sunday – The Brewton Standard

The aroma of boiling seafood and the sounds of music will fill Jennings Park this Sunday afternoon for the annual Kick It At The Creek event hosted by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce.
COC Executive Director Judy Crane said plans for the event are complete and ready to make the day enjoyable for everyone.
“We ordered 2,000 pounds of crawfish and several hundred pounds of shrimp,” Crane said. “And for those who don’t like seafood, we will have sliced pizzas available. We will also have Pepsi available.
The annual event is known to sell out early, so attendees are advised to prepare for service beginning at 2 p.m.
“We will start selling at 2:00 p.m.,” Crane said. “It’s first come, first served this year.”
The Wolfe Johns Blues Band will perform during the event, Crane said.
“The squad will be set up and ready to play as we start serving,” Crane said. “Everyone is welcome to bring a chair, blanket or whatever you want to sit on with you to the park and spend the afternoon with us.”
Sponsors for the 2022 event are David’s Catfish House and Peach Chevrolet.
“As far as the forecast goes, we’re expecting a great day,” Crane said. “The weather should be perfect for an afternoon in the park.”
The forecast for Sunday in Brewton calls for partly cloudy skies with only a 10% chance of rain. Highs will be around 87 degrees for the afternoon event.
In addition to the food items, the Chamber will also have the annual event t-shirts available. The shirts cost $25 for adults and $20 for youth sizes, Crane said.
Josh Godwin will once again be tending the pots to provide wonderful food for attendees, Crane said.
“We want to thank Josh Godwin of David’s Catfish for all his help,” Crane said. “He orders and cooks everything for us. We couldn’t do it without him.
Several pots will be boiling throughout the morning and into the afternoon to prepare food for the participants. Crayfish, shrimp and combo plates will be available and will include a range of sides including boiled potatoes and corn with the main course. Plates of crawfish or shrimp will be $20 with combo plates containing both items at $25. Food will be served while supplies last.
